BALTIMORE NATIONAL JAMBOREE PATCHES ARE NOW ON SALE
See http://www.baltimorebsa.org/openrosters/DocDownload.asp?id=62199 Sep 27, 2009 Feb 17, 2009 Oct 21, 2008 Sep 16, 2008 Aug 19, 2008
The Jamboree Committee has designed the Baltimore Area Council contingent
shoulder patches. The patch design was developed by the Contingent Committee
and becomes the basis not just for the Council Shoulder patch but also becomes
the focal point for the gateways as well as several other items. As the birthplace
of our country's National Anthem, the theme of the patches is based on
Baltimore's historic activities during the War of 1812 and Francis Scott Key's
writing of words to the Star-Spangled banner. There are patches for each troop and
additional patches have been designed as a photochromatic ghost trader patch and
a staff patch. Members of the contingency will have a different patch representing
the contingency troop they are in. All patches will be sold to offset Jamboree
contingent expenses.
Baltimore has held their Jamboree Kickoff Rally and has assigned all the Scouts to Contingent Troops. The Rally was held Sept 27th at Lansdowne Senior High School, 3800 Hollins Ferry Rd. Baltimore County, MD from 1:30 – 4:00 pm.
National has decided to buy 5000 acres in Virginia close to Goshen for future Jamborees. They also are looking at property in Fayette Co, WV for a version of Philmont East.
Thanks to Steve Dee's help, we have a easily remembered address for the Baltimore Area Council Jamboree website. It is www.bacjamboree.com.
At the Jamboree Committee the Executive Committee announced that this Jamboree the Contingent would use dome tents.
They also announced there will be one tent for each of the Scoutmasters (4) in addition to the regular storage tent the 2nd Assistant Scoutmaster (ASM)
gets to put boxes in. The registrar, reported that 354 scouts had shown interest in attending the 2010 Jamboree, but that only 166 had paid their first
installment. Of the adult leaders, 25 have registered and 20 had paid. National Pike district makes up 35% of the contingency with 4 Rivers making up 22%.
Dulaney (8%) and Hartford (6%) are at the other end of the spectrum.
At the first Jamboree Committee meeting with the scoutmasters, the Jamboree Adult leaders were announced. 10 troops and one alternate troop leaders were announced.
